- Abstract
The enzyme inhibition potential of one dimensional coordination polymer [Cu(C6H5COO)(N3)(MeOH)] (1) has been evaluated against acetylcholinesterase (AChE), butyrylcholinesterase (BChE), lipoxygenase (LOX), urease, α-chymotrypsin and yeast α-glucosidase. The coordination polymer 1 was found to be highly selective for α-glucosidase with the promising inhibition (IC50 = 59.43 ± 0.12) as compared to the standard reference acarbose (IC50, 38.25 ± 0.12). In addition, compound exhibits moderate to poor inhibition potential against all other tested enzymes. Furthermore, thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA) of 1 was also carried out to evaluate its thermal stability, which shows its stepwise degradation. This study may provide a route towards the development of the selective α-glucosidase inhibitors based on coordination polymers.
