- Authors

- Abstract
The author discusses the oral contrast administration policy of emergency departments (EDs) for abdominal and pelvic computed tomography (CT) scan to reduce the length of stay (LOS) of patients with abdominal pain. Topics include the rate increase of repeat abdominal CT scans after eliminating the use of oral contrast in adult ED patients, the correlation of lower body mass index (BMI) with repeat CT scan with oral contrast, and the reduction of radiation dosage by setting BMI criteria.
