- Abstract
The article presents a study that confirmed the risks associated with the use of bevacizumab, a monoclonal anti vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), in intravitreal injection. A case report of a woman with diabetic retinopathy with decreased visual acuity (VA) is presented. The patient was injected with bevacizumab and remission of the diabetic macular edema (DME) was confirmed without any change in VA. After three weeks, she was diagnosed with anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (AION) which resolved after seven weeks without further treatment.
