- Abstract
The article re-estimates Brian Bemmels' method of investigating biases in arbitration by using ordinal logit. By dividing the outcome of the arbitral decision into three sequential decision or dependent variables, Bemmels examines gender biases in arbitration. In this paper, the ordinal logit model is defined and presented. This article shows the arbitral decision-making process as a single decision with several ordered outcomes as possibilities. The re-estimation presents that gender positively and significantly affected the arbitral decision. It indicates that female grievants were treated more leniently than male grievants.
