The article discusses the various forms of humour, including joking and mocking, as a form of social control in the Tongan diaspora and demonstrates different conceptions of humour that can negatively affects self and social identity of Tongan youngsters. Topics include Tongan social relations, humour in negotiations of Tongan identities, joking relations and verbal bullying.
