The article presents a contextual analysis of the biblical passage found in the gospel of Mark chapter 6 verses 1 to 52. The author describes the gospel as "Markan mosaics" and "Markan sandwich" and gives as an example Mark's account of the murder of Saint John the Baptist referred to as the banquet of death and the sending out by Jesus of his 12 disciples referred to as the banquet of life. An outline of chapter 6 and the division of Mark's gospel into plates are also presented.
