- Abstract
A study which investigated how dolphins detect, identify and classify complex acoustic signals with peak amplitudes of their discrete components concentrated in the low-frequency area is presented. Topics covered include the mechanisms that allowed for the perception of such signals, noise simulation based on the method of generation of broadband signals and the application of band-pass filtering to enable dolphins to classify these signals.
