- Abstract
The article describes the case of a 23-year-old man from Dzibzantun, Yucatan State in Mexico, who had a low-grade fever and a maculopapular rash on the thorax and upper and lower extremities and was referred for possible diagnosis of rickettsial infection. Topics discussed include the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification performed, murine typhus as a febrile illness caused by Rickettsia typhi, and results of Gimenez staining on day fifteen.
