Do Foreclosure Mediation Programs Help Homeowners Prevent Loss of their Homes?
- Abstract
The article focuses on the efficacy of foreclosure mediation programs in preventing home lost. It states that the U.S. National Consumer Law Center (NCLC) concluded that the program has the potential to prevent loss of homes however, its goals are not achieved because it failed to implement duties on mortgage lenders. Accordingly, recommendations offered by NCLC's review report include requiring lenders to properly negotiate and be subjected to sanctions if they fail to do so.
