The article focuses on the position paper developed by the BC Medical Association (BCMA) concerning the status of the physician workforce. According to the author, the current physician workforce planning process in British Columbia has been described as fragmented and short-term in its focus. Workforce groups cited in the paper are physicians in training, practicing physician and physicians nearing retirement. Recommendations for managing the workforce are also given.
