In a previous article (VNJ 27: 288-292, August 2012) I described how to investigate potential back pain in horses and discussed the difficulties of diagnosis and managing client expectations. In this complementary article, I explain my practical approach to the most commonly treatable conditions, with special reference to imaging, anaesthesia and nursing considerations.
