- Abstract
The challenges of contemporary couples have taken the identity and sense of the self as the cornerstone of the co-construction of the "we-ness". Men and women are subject to new demands of affectivity and emotional intimacy, while they are tensioned by traditional gender roles. The separation between reproduction and sexual desire, in addition, establish an edge of tension where care and desire coexist with the demands of the post-industrial society. This article deals with the sexual and relational dimensions of sexual desire and proposes an approach from body learning, identity and sense of relational and multidimensional aspects. Dimensions as attachment and self-differentiation, emotional intimacy, passionate love and power, allow us to infer several systemic hypotheses that guide therapeutic interventions. The article is intended for couple's therapists, and also for those who dealt with the difficulties raised in the context of other kind of psychotherapy.
