- Title
Comparative Effectiveness--Looking Under the Lamppost.
- Authors
Teutsch, Steven M.; Fielding, Jonathan E.
- Abstract
The authors argue that the healthcare sector in the U.S. should realign the comparative effectiveness research (CER) portfolio to address the underlying determinants of health and to identify the most effective and efficient policies and programs that would significantly improve health outcomes. They comment on the limitations in the funding and scope of CER in the nation. They believe that the greatest weakness in the CER agenda is the missed chance to assess interventions that can enhance the fundamental determinants of health.
