- Abstract
The article reports on research which was conducted on methods to prevent and treat HIV and which was discussed at the 16th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections. A discussion of research which examined the effectiveness of a vaginal microbicide which could help protect women from HIV, and which examined the effectiveness of antiretroviral drugs in protecting macaque monkeys from HIV, is presented. Research which examined the effectiveness of interleukin 2 immunotherapy in treating HIV positive people is also discussed.
