AIR POLLUTION MAY CAUSE SEVERE DROUGHT IN NORTH CHINA.
- Abstract
The article focuses on a study on the potential of air pollution to cause reduction in rainfall in North China, published in the "Journal of Geophysical Research." The study also addressed the possibility of lessening the drought in northeast China by reducing air pollution. Reserchers stressed that the study could help in understanding the impact of aerosols on the development of rain clouds. Yun Qian, lead researcher, cited the rise in aerosols between 1960 and 2000, with the growth of population and fossil fuel consumption.
