- Title
Chapter 7: 'Doing it one way and doing it another way': Morton Feldman's Neither.
- Abstract
The article presents the musical analysis of the text of Irish novelist Samuel Beckett in Morton Feldman's one-act opera "Neither." It explores the approach of Feldman to the voice and his use of orchestration, pitch and rhythm to demonstrate how he reproduces in music shadowing the impacts of the text of Beckett. It discusses the decision of Feldman to start writing music before getting the libretto, hence soprano's absence from the opening.
