- Abstract
The research investigated to identify the learning modalities of candidate students' applicant for special ability examination in Physical Education and Sport Department and if this can be changeable depending on their gender, age, type of being graduated high school, type of field being graduated high school and branches of making application for examination. Research's sample involves randomly chosen from 417 students applicant for special ability examination in Selcuk University Physical Education and Sports Departments. The model of this research is the survey method. We use personal information forms, which is developed by the researcher and "BİG 16 Learning Modality Inventory" which is developed by Simsek (2002). We evaluate three learning modalities in these inventory; these are kinesthetic, visual, and auditory modalities as a kind of data. Every learning modalities have got 16 items in this inventory, there are totally 48 items in this inventory. The "kinesthetic" text has got .634 reliability coefficient, "auditory" text has got .717 reliability coefficient, "visual" text has got .697 reliability coefficient in this inventory. The reliability coefficient is .853 in the whole inventory. The frequency and percent are used in this data analyses, the relations between the differences are studied by Chi-Square statistics technics. The meaning level is taken 0.05. The result of the research; candidate students 63,3% of them have visual, 18,7% of them have auditory and 18% of them have kinesthetic learning modality; their learning modalities didn't change depending on gender, age, type of being graduated high school, type of field being graduated high school and branches of making application for examination.
