- Abstract
Today our country's economic development, competitiveness in the global economy can be achieved and one of the most important elements of social improvement is the energy. Energy, especially in electricity For many years Turkey has been one of the important issues and today Turkey's energy problem is found in is expected to continue in the future. In this study, thermal power plants in Turkey in the energy sector by examining the political, economic and environmental factors associated with the thermal power plant in Marmara region also in the importance of the energy market were put forward. In this study, thermal power plants, which have an important role in the energy sector, were investigated. Twenty of thirty two thermal power plants, which have received production licenses from the Turkish Energy Market Regulation Authority and have been operating in Marmara region, were surveyed. SWOT analysis method was used to analyze the sector. The results of the survey show that the thermal power plants in Marmara region stand out with their strengths. In the study, daily average costs and profits of thermal power plants in Marmara region were calculated. The fact that Turkey is a growing market enabled the development of the energy sector. It is expected that new thermal power plant investments are going to be made along with the further development of the sector. Although thermal power plants slightly reduce Turkey's energy dependence, do not solve the problem. Therefore, government assistance and investments in clean energy sources need to be increased.
