- Title
What is cerebral blood volume good for?
- Authors
Greisen, Gorm
- Abstract
The article discusses the importance of cerebral blood flow (CBF) in neonatology and the potential use of cerebral blood volume (CBV) as a surrogate measure of CBF. The authors explain that CBV can be measured easily and accurately using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). They also discuss the limitations and challenges of using CBV as a measure of CBF, including the need for greater precision and the uncertainty of its relationship with other factors that affect CBF. The article concludes by suggesting that further research and clinical consideration are needed to determine the usefulness of CBV as a tool in neonatal care.
