KANARYOVA, T. N.
- Abstract
The article explores the semantics of the Mandala as an initial icon in Mongolian architecture. Topics covered include a graphic-analytical analysis (GAA) of Buddhist temples in Mongolia based on the iconological method, and the use of the Mandala diagram as a scheme for planning and shape generation. Also noted is the possible identification of some vital similarities between the Mandala and the plans and compositions of complexes, temples, and facades, by way of GAA and religious semantics.
