- Abstract
The article discusses cultural identity defined as an affirmation of a group of people with respect to symbolic and materialistic resources and their affinity with social institutions that value said resources. Topics discussed include 2 prototypes of exchange rationality namely relational rationality and transactional rationality, how the prototypes shed light on possible contrast of identity between East and West and 2 components of exchanges namely economic transaction and social relations.
