- Abstract
The article considers how the Bicentennial celebrations of the Mexican War of Independence in Mexico are portrayed on the Internet, focusing particularly on portrayals of Mexico's history which use virtual social networking. It compares presentations of the Bicentennial to Mexico's Centennial independence celebrations of 1910. Other subjects considered include nationalism, theories of the information economy presented in the 2006 book "The Economics of Attention: Style and Substance in the Age of Information" by Richard Lanham, and Mexico's national website for the Bicentennial www.bicentenario.gob.mx.
