The article compares the linguistic features of proverbs in Tamil and Telugu languages. Proverbs can be considered as miniature poems because of their structure and use of several features including alliteration, rhyme and parallelism. Both Tamil and Telugu languages belong to the Dravidian family of language in India. Examples of allusion and alliteration in Tamil and Telugu proverbs are provided.
