- Abstract
A report by Rainforest Action Network (RAN) has identified ten major consumer brands, including Procter & Gamble, Mondeléz, and Nestlé, as significant contributors to deforestation and human rights abuses through their supply chains. Despite commitments to improve their supply chains, deforestation rates have risen globally, and violence against land rights defenders has increased. RAN's evaluation of the brands found that none of them achieved an 'A' grade, with Procter & Gamble, Mondeléz, Ferrero, and Nissin Foods performing the worst. The report emphasizes the need for brands to take concrete actions to protect forests and communities and calls for increased transparency and accountability in supply chains.
