Settlements are an Obstacle to Peace.
- Authors
CHELALA, CESAR
- Abstract
This article discusses the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine, focusing on the issue of Israeli settlements in Palestinian territory. It highlights the recent appropriation of 10 square kilometers of Palestinian land by the Israeli government, which is the largest land seizure since the 1993 Oslo accords. The article argues that these settlements are a major obstacle to peace, as they displace Palestinians from their homes and make it impossible to establish an independent Palestinian state. It also mentions incidents of violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians and the violation of international law regarding territorial conquest. The article concludes by stating that if settlements continue to be built, peace between Israelis and Palestinians will remain elusive.
