- Abstract
The article discusses a linked patient blood management (PBM) data system in a Western Australian hospital and presents blood usage data obtained by the system. It mentions the use of a patient identifier to connect the Patient Administration System with the Laboratory Information System. The number of blood transfusions between August 2008 and July 2009 is cited. The system's facilitation of the effective targeting of PBM strategies is also addressed.
