- Authors

- Abstract
The article presents a critique of the 1894 poem "A Ballad in Blank Verse," by the Scottish poet John Davidson, particularly focusing on the prosody of the poem. The poem, it is noted, does contain some autobiographical details. The title of the poem and the poem's original title are examined. The ideas about blank verse and prosody among Victorian poets are explored as is the influence that earlier Romantic poets had on the Victorians. Other topics include aestheticism and Christianity in Davidson's poem.
