- Authors
Attderson McWilliams, Mary
- Abstract
The article describes a group of woven silks during the Safavid dynasty in Iran that feature scenes of Persians and their prisoners. It talks about the importance of these textile products as visual documentation in the history of Iran, particularly those that represent events during the reign of Safavid ruler, Shah Tahmasp I (1524-1576). The varying quality and quantity of iconographic information presented in these woven silks, most of which are woven using the lampas technique, is discussed.
