- Abstract
This article discusses the components of a proactive plan for teachers of special education students to implement emergency crisis interventions. The article notes the components of implementing such a plan and what student safeguards should be included. The article discusses the importance of teacher reaction during the first minute of any such crisis to prevent injury or a worsening of injury. The article mentions the importance of school administrations in providing support to educational staff with initial training and ongoing training. The article provides an exercise that parents can use to teach their children the concept of how long a minute lasts.
