A literary criticism is presented on the 1954 novel "The World in the Evening" by Christopher Isherwood, and its connection to the book "Maurice" by E. M. Forster. The author describes negative reactions to Isherwood's book and discusses the depiction of a gay community within a Quaker community in the novel, focusing on the characters of Bob Wood and Charles Kennedy.
