- Abstract
The article presents a response to the essay "Excavating the Corporativist City," by Jeffrey T. Schnapp, presented in the January 1, 2004 issue of "Modernism/Modernity," critiquing the author's explanation of the architecture of Pavia, Italy. It addresses the influence of classical and medieval architecture on Pavia's design under Italian Fascism, as well as comments on the relationship between radical modernism and fascist corporativism. Other topics explored include the appropriation of ancient Roman architecture, Italian colonial archaeology, and the interpretation of history.
