- Authors
Woubshet, Dagmawi
- Abstract
The article introduces Hortense Spillers, one of the vanguards in literary studies. Several of her essays are said to be among the studies to prize the intersections of race and gender and of race and psychoanalysis in understanding African American life and culture. A 1989 essay by Toni Morrison characterizes Spiller's intervention. A passage from Spiller's essay "Peter's Pans: Eating in the Diaspora" is cited as an example that articulates intramural African American life.
