- Abstract
The article discusses research being done on cell death. It references the study "A novel membrane fusion-mediated plant immunity against bacterial pathogens," by N. Hatsugai and colleagues in the October 15, 2009 issue of "Genes and Development." It discusses a study by Ikuko Hara-Nishimura and colleagues on the ultrastructural changes in Arabidopsis thaliana infected with Pseudomonas syringae. The study showed that vacuolar and plasma membranes' fusion is the plant's defense against pathogens.
