The article discusses various reports published within the issue including one by Russell Wheeler which recounts the history of the creation of the Federal Judicial Center, another by Deborah Hensler which points to the fragile nature of the link between empirical study of civil justice and the making of public policy, and another one by Laurens Walker which reflects on the need to enlarge the institutional capacity for empirical study of civil justice.
