TIPSON, FREDERICK S.
- Abstract
The author offers his views on the Third United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS III), which was adopted on April 30, 1982. He explains why the present draft of the Convention would not be supported by the majority of the members of the U.S. Senate. He notes that the deep sea mining aspects of the sea treaty raises a problem. He points out that it is not fair to assume that the U.S. has rejected the notion of the seabeds as the common heritage of mankind in its refusal to go along with the draft.
