- Abstract
The purpose of this research is to interpret the understanding of the territory of the community of the Institución Educativa El Bosque in the city of Medellín, Antioquia; as a response to environmental education within the training processes as a means of developing awareness and knowledge of the territory conceived in a comprehensive manner, which allows citizens to assume a commitment to participate in the improvement of environmental quality. From the PRAES, the educational institutions generate opportunities for the linking of the communities in the processes that aim to help from the understanding of environmental issues from their natural, physicochemical, biological, and mainly human dimension to respond to the solution of environmental problems including their implications demographic. Starting from the socio-environmental description of the territory, community participation, ethical and responsible appropriation through the projection of environmental education in an institution that is spatially located a few meters from a closed open-air dump, important water sources and communities with high levels of poverty seeks to interpret the understanding of the territory of teachers, students, and parents as a response to this research.
