- Abstract
M. azedarach fruit extracts had the highest saponin content, followed by A. indica and T. ciliata. The fully ripened fruits of Melia azedarach (Dhrek) and Toona ciliata (Toon) were collected in the months of May-June, while the fruits of Azadirachta indica (Neem) were collected in July-August during the peak fruiting period. The ethanol extracts possessed higher phenol content than aqueous extracts, with maximum phenol content in the ethanol fraction of A. indica fruits and minimum in T. ciliata fruit extract. Maximum % growth inhibition was recorded with ethanolic neem fruit extract at 50% concentration (76.34%) followed by aqueous neem fruit extract at 50% concentration (71.87%).
