- Abstract
The article discusses the importance of social work leadership in the provision of nonprofit hospital community benefits. Also cited are the need for social workers to lead in health policy debates on the social determinants of health, the responsibility of nonprofit hospitals to provide charitable services to communities as mandated by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and conduct community health needs assessments (CHNA) under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA).
