- Abstract
Journalism life of Refi Cevat Ulunay, which continued for 60 years, starts in 1908 with the newspaper Ferda. He gives various services for famous newspapers of Turkish press, Tanin, İkdam, Şehrah and Alemdar, as a palace pressman, a narrator, a deputy director, and a translator. Ulunay is sent to exile abroad due to his opposition to the National Struggle, and after returning from exile, he works for the newspaper Tan between the years 1940 and 1944; for the newspaper Yeni Sabah and Salon and Mizah magazines, between the years 1944 and 1952; for the newspaper Hizmet in 1952; and works as a writer and a narrator for the newspaper Milliyet between 1953 and 1968. Ulunay, who is a productive writer who has a say in almost every subject in journalism, also has many articles about the profession of journalism. In his articles, he deals with issues such as the profession of journalism and the position of journalists who perform this profession, the Press Association's activities, the necessity of press history and press museum, and the effect of politics on journalists and newspapers. In this study, Refi Cevat Ulunay's ideas and suggestions about journalism profession will be handled through his articles in newspapers and magazines.
