- Abstract
The article, with the background of the theory of justice as fairness by John Rawls, presents the notes made by Jürgen Habermas to the rawlsian project of justice, especially in relation to how individual concepts and comprehensive reasonable doctrines can be theorized in pluralist societies, in the current context. The article, using the bibliographical method of research, focuses primarily on Habermas' criticism, and it has, as main objective, the clarification of some controversial points that, in the german philosopher's thinking, deserve attention and repositioning by Rawls. Therefore, at first, it presents the main points of Rawls's theory, and after, the paper chooses to, when appropriate, to continue the discussion unveiling the criticism of Habermas at the same pace at which it talks about fundamental points of the rawlsian theory, such as the concepts of overlapping consensus and public reason.
