The author comments on the impact of hospital design on patients and staff. She expresses frustration with lack of appropriate space and poor wayfinding, lighting and ventilation in the hospital where she works. She stresses the need for healthcare environments to be accessible to patient groups with health needs such as poor mobility, mental health problems, visual and auditory impairments. She suggests evaluation of patient, staff and visitor experiences to improve healthcare environments.
