- Abstract
The 12th Conference on Young Labor Law Science took place from July 20th to 22nd, 2023 at the University of Bayreuth. The conference addressed the topic "Labor Law as Solidified Constitutional Law?" and discussed practical questions, including constitutional, European law, and comparative law aspects. The keynote speeches by Professor Dr. Monika Schlachter and Professor Dr. Andreas Paulus dealt with European law influences on EU labor law and constitutional aspects of collective labor law. It was emphasized that labor law is in the hands of the legislature and that the Federal Constitutional Court will not intervene and correct in every respect. The text addresses various topics in labor law, including the exercise of public authority and the employer's responsibility, the power imbalance in labor law, the fundamental right to co-determination in works constitution law, and equal pay between men and women. It also discusses questions regarding justified payment due to the poor labor market situation, the age limit in arbitration, the right to paid annual leave, whistleblower protection, and the labor law status of journalists. The conference was successful, and the presentations will be published in a conference proceedings volume.
