- Abstract
(2014) First report of okra enation leaf curl virus and associated cotton leaf curl Multan betasatellite and cotton leaf curl Multan alphasatellite infecting cotton in Pakistan: a new member of the cotton leaf curl disease complex. Cotton leaf curl disease (CLCuD) is one of the major constraints in sustainable production of the cotton crop. Over the past decade, in cotton plants with CLCuD, multiple begomoviruses, including cotton leaf curl Multan virus (CLCuMuV), cotton leaf curl Alabad virus (CLCuAlV), cotton leaf curl Kokhran virus (CLCuKoV), papaya leaf curl virus (PaLCuV) and tomato leaf curl Bangalore virus (ToLCBaV) were identified associated with a single betasatellite and alphasatellite species, that is, cotton leaf curl Multan betasatellite (CLCuMuB; previously known as CLCuD DNA ) and cotton leaf curl Multan alphasatellite (CLCuMuA; previously known as DNA1) (Briddon et al., [9]; Briddon & Markham, [10]; Mansoor et al., [14]).
