- Abstract
Compared to the conventional surgical approach, colectomy for endometriosis with the natural orifice specimen extraction (NOSE) technique allows for the surgical specimen to be removed through the anus or vagina, thus sparing the mini-laparotomy incision. B Step 4: Colotomy above the endometriosis nodule. b An energy device is used to make an incision in the colonic wall, above the superior limit of the nodule. The first case report of colectomy done with the NOSE technique for endometriosis was published in 1991 by Redwine and Sharpe, for a sigmoid colon endometriosis nodule removed transanally [[1]].
