- Abstract
This article, published in the journal Colorectal Disease, discusses iatrogenic splenic injury in colorectal surgery and the potential complications it can cause. The authors present a video vignette demonstrating laparoscopic haemostatic control with splenic preservation as a viable option for managing iatrogenic splenic injuries. The case study involves a 74-year-old man who experienced a splenic injury during surgery, and various strategies were used to control the bleeding. The intervention was successful, and the patient recovered without complications. The article emphasizes the effectiveness of laparoscopic control as an alternative to splenectomy in these cases.
