- Abstract
This article discusses the importance of light in the growth and metabolism of plants, specifically in horticultural crops. It highlights nine original research articles that examine the effects of different lighting environments on the growth and nutritional quality of fruits, vegetables, and herbs. The studies explore topics such as the interaction between far-red light and light intensity in lettuce and cucumber plants, the impact of light intensity and spectrum on anthocyanin accumulation in purple sweet peppers, and the influence of supplemental blue and red LED lighting on flavor volatiles in basil. The findings emphasize the significance of selecting appropriate light conditions for cultivating high-quality vegetable seedlings.
