- Abstract
Despite the great potential of solar energy in Brazil, this source still has weak participation in the Brazilian electricity matrix. Nevetherless, several incentive mechanisms have been designed to encourage the use of renewable energy sources. Since the publication of the Resolution n. 482/12 by Aneel, distributed mini and micro-generation systems can be connected to the electric distribution grid, enabling consumers to generate electricity for their own consumption, through a net-metering mechanism. The main objective of this work is to evaluate the ability of Aneel's regulation in order to stimulate distributed generation by photovoltaic energy; and, secondarily, to study the need for complementary incentives for its greater diffusion. As a result, it was found that the cost of photovoltaic solar energy is close to the tariff parity, with a trend towards this source due to an increasing tendency of the energy tariffs and a reduction of this technology production costs.
