- Abstract
The article discusses the continued occupation of the Golan Heights and the West Bank by Israeli military forces after the June 1967 Six-Day War. Topics include the strategic significance of those territories for military defense, military and intelligence advantages against Syria due to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) presence on Mount Hermon in the Golan Heights, and the relation of the West Bank to the defense of Jerusalem and other population centers. The purported role of West Bank occupation in counter-terrorism efforts by the IDF is noted. Possible Palestinian statehood is addressed.
