- Abstract
The article reports that a larger portion of Eritrea has acquired access to mobile phone service. Tesfasilassie Berhane, Managing Director of Eri-Tel, states that their company has installed 16 new towers along with necessary communication equipment, providing services in Assab and its surrounding areas and in Dahlak Islands. The project was made possible in collaboration with the Electricity Corporation. Berhane added that other peripheral areas would soon avail of the service. In Eritrea, there are over 90, 000 mobile phone customers and more than 1.2 million calls are made daily.
