- Abstract
The language of managers is an essential factor at the process of employee motivation. Sullivan (1988) declared Motivational Language Theory and, his followers conducted researches about the importance of managerial usage of language at the process of motivation and leadership. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the role of motivational language of manager at the quality of leader-member exchange at automotive industry in Turkey. The motivational language scale developed by Mayfield, J., Mayfield, M & Kopf, J. (1995) and the leader-member exchange scale developed by Liden, R.C. & Maslyn, J.M. (1998) are used as assessment tools. Findings show that all dimensions of motivational language are related with all dimensions of leader-member exchange and, there is a significant effect of motivational language on the quality of leader-member exchange.
